CINQUE PIAZZE - Mixed generation housing, offices and retail, Brunswick (GER)
(invited design competition, 2009)
GFA: approx. 23.000 m2
The site is located in Brunswick, in very urban conditions, next to heavily frequented roads. Main aspects of the proposed solution are the 100% ecological design and the extensive integration of natural green into the project area. The careful positioning of the buildings and their orientation towards the sun creates, throughout the site, a high residential quality and creates five plazas with each having an own identity: Cinque Piazze.
Space for children to play, talk, relax and live are prerogatives to create a community.
In the northern part of the site, a supermarket and office use is located around an urban space, where people can meet, talk and play. In the south, the iconic existing buildings, giving the area its identity, are strenthened in their appearance and converted into residential buildings and a Kindergarten.
A diversified and barrier-free residence typology for families with children will enhance a generation mixed structure. The aim is to develop a vivid, urban and appealing neigborhood with a high end and innovative offer for contemporary living, especially for families with children.
A reasonable divisibility of the project, compact building masses and appartments with equal qualities garuantee an overall cost effectiveness of the design.
