Education campus „Heider Bergsee Campus“ in Brühl after the cradle to cradle®-principle
An ecological education campus with student housing will get built
An ecological and barrier-free ensemble of buildings is planned by us, which blends in perfectly with the surroundings and complements existing structures perfectly. A multi-storey building with flexible floor plans forms the centre and is intended for educational, research and/or development facilities. The new building will be supplemented by two multi-storey residential buildings, which will meet the urgent need for student accommodation. The ensemble will create an area of approx. 20,000 sqm, of which the student housing will take up approx. 15,000 sqm.
The V-shaped cubature of the educational building opens up with direct visual links to the existing federal university and forms an entrance plaza that is opposite the existing campus entrance to the north. The two residential buildings face south with generous landscape windows that interweave the area with the adjacent green spaces. The residential buildings are planned in sustainable timber construction and allow a fast and low-emission construction with regard to noise, vibrations and dust on site. By using the renewable raw material, a total of approx. 5,000 t CO2 will be permanently stored in the new campus building. In addition, all construction elements can later be returned to their material cycles after the principle Cradle to Cradle. Due to a low primary energy requirement, the energy saving regulations are undercut by 45 % in this ecological showcase project. On the 29,000 sqm site, the project developer and architects are focusing on sustainability and a high quality of living.
The ambitious open space concept will continue to safeguard the southern biotope as a landscape conservation area. The forest area to the east remains completely untouched. Generous open spaces with a high proportion of greenery will be created for the protection and supporting of biological diversity. Attractive outdoor areas with a high quality of stay will become a meeting place and invite to stay in the fresh air. The ambitiously designed open space concept and the construction in wood will create a sustainable and ecological lighthouse project for the city of Brühl at this location, which will give space to nature and be available to all citizens.
The Heider Bergsee Campus stands for an exemplary ecological approach and a holistic planning approach with the aim of creating a new future-oriented place for the people and the environment of the city of Brühl.
