Info

The design is the result of an invited architectural competition. The two sites with a surface of approx. 3.760 m² (Hermannstraße) and 3.660 m² (Schüruferstraße) are located in a heterogeneous urban context at a distance of about 250 meter to the Phoenix lake in the far south east of Dortmund. The close context of both plots is defined by houses of the postwar period, buildings from past century, a large car dealer, a gas station and unbuild brownfields for future developments. Therefore the project is a chance to develop an urban ensemble - give by the proximity of the two plots to each other – helping to define the urban entrance to this neighborhood. Based on the results of the analysis two buildings have been developed, reflecting the results of the analysis, as well as meeting the urban vision and expectations of the city of Dortmund.
